Welcome Ladies to the next in the current series of informative Blogs brought to you by SofyaHQ in collaboration with a range of Coventry and Warwickshire based small businesses. We have enlisted the expertise of these businesses to bring you inspirational, achievable and confidence boosting looks and tips allowing you to strut through the season with ease.

So put the kettle on, grab the chocolates and enjoy!

The big celebrations may be almost at a close, but as we approach New Year, thoughts can sometimes turn to those of renewal or change.

Even a small addition or two to our current wardrobe can be enough to lift our spirits and take us through the current chilly season and into Spring.

How about a ladylike pair of gloves to make you feel like Audrey Hepburn, or a trilby hat worthy of the catwalk, finished off with a unique brooch?

Let us help you treat yourself with some Winter Warmer ideas…..

Turn up the volume on your Colour!

When we think of winter outer wear, we can often be stuck in a rut of good old black and other neutrals, with perhaps a splash of colour in the odd scarf if we are feeling brave.

We are here to tell you that by turning up the volume on your colour combinations, you can both look and feel like a different person, instantly!

Hats have been seen all across the catwalks in recent seasons, they are definitely back! One of the easiest to wear is the classic Trilby, as it frames the face well and provides height at the crown, giving the illusion of elongating you.

The trilby here is in a stunning burnt orange wool, which is ideal for ladies with a bright or warm colouring. This could be a bright, striking eye colour or a skin tone which may have freckles or golden colouring.

GO WESTERN....

The poncho can be an overlooked style of cover-up. It is ideal for those milder days when a coat feels a little restrictive, as it is easy to move about in.

This mauve poncho has a contrasting orange trim which complements the trilby hat, and the ‘v’ shape point at the base of the poncho draws the eye down, further elongating the torso.

This optical illusion is perfect if you wish to balance a shorter torso and longer legs, and the fabric gently covers your midriff without clinging.

The wider neckline of the poncho also visually widens your torso, and can balance out a wider hip. The diamante fastening provides a subtle style statement.

Classic is still Classic!

If brighter colours seem like a step too far, then this grey hat combined with the ‘moody blue’ poncho and lavender trim is a classic option.

Grey has taken over as the ‘colour de jour’ in recent years for both fashion and homeware, and in many ways has overtaken black in popularity.

The blue tone here flatters a soft, low contrast colouring i.e. if your hair, eye and skin colour ‘blend’ and no one element stands out dramatically.

This overall look is ‘tonal’ with the grey and blue all in the same colour family. This is a simple yet effective way to combine colours successfully.

Teal coloured gloves add a further depth to the look, to prevent it looking ‘flat’. And the pale pink flower brooch is the perfect tonal finishing piece.

Be Kind to your Hands!

We experience fabric with our hands, but we do not always think of our gloves in that way. The teal coloured suede gloves feel like a real luxury that you can use daily. The leather stripe detail adds a real ladylike element, as well as drawing attention to the narrowest part of your arm – the wrist.

Finishing touches...

Tip – Cover up to go out. Our accessories can be very flexible, and large scarves do not have to be reserved for throwing over a coat.

This mustard and bright pink floral scarf is a striking look and would be lovely to drape over the arms, especially combined with an outfit in one of those two colours, or black.

Tip – Be unique! A simple single piece like this lovely stag brooch or multi-coloured bangles can add a unique finish to your look, and is a real talking point when out and about.

Wishing you a wonderful start to 2018!

We hope that these options have given you some inspiration and ideas on how to tweak your look for a cosy and stylish New Year!

Food for thought...

The New Year means nothing if you are still in love with your Comfort zone...
